Guidelines for Chapter Presentations

The San Francisco Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) Chapter meets monthly (usually on the 2nd Wednesday of the month) at the Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) Building located at 77 Beale Street in San Francisco, CA. from 12:00 noon until 2:30 PM. Lunch is served free-of-charge to members and their guest that RSVP.

Presentations are coordinated through the Chapter Vice President.

The Chapter requests all presenters follow the guidelines below when preparing and delivering presentations.

Guidelines:

There are usually 25 to 30 information security professionals in attendance at the monthly Chapter meetings. Our membership covers the San Francisco Bay Area. Members are of varying career and experience levels and presenters should keep this in mind when preparing and presenting. More specifically, presentations should:

  • be technical and educational in nature and relate to one or more of the (ISC) CBK (http://www.isc2.org/uploadedFiles/Education/Review_Seminars/CBK.pdf)
  • last no more than 45 minutes excluding a 10-15 minute question and answer session.
  • have a presentation title, abstract, and speaker bio to e-mailed to vicepresident [@] sfbay.issa.org at least four weeks prior to the agreed upon presentation date.
  • be sent as a PDF or PowerPoint via e-mail to the Chapter Vice President (vicepresident [@] sfbay.issa.org) and the Communications Director (communications [@] sfbay.issa.org) for posting on the San Francisco Bay Area Web site (http://sfbay.issa.org), so that other members will have access to them.
  • presentation cannot be a "sales/product pitch." However, it is okay for the speaker to take a minute or two to establish their expertise in the area and the company at which they work."

Note: Permission to post presentation materials on the chapter website is assumed unless specifically denied in writing.

Logistical Information:

  • The chapter will provide an LCD projector and computer with typical software.
  • The chapter does not have a Guest Speaking Budget, as such, all presentations, including any travel expenses incurred, are the responsibility of the guest speaker.
  • All presenters must reaffirm their scheduled presentation seventy-two (72) hours prior. This can be accomplished via an email message to the Chapter Vice President (vicepresident [@] sfbay.issa.org).
